Bolin Creek WatershedBolin Creek Restoration Project SummaryBolin Creek watershed is located in the Jordan Lake Watershed and includes the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro. The headwaters of the watershed are more rural and the watershed becomes more developed as one moves downstream. The stream is impaired for biological integrity and for many years, the Friends of Bolin Creek organization has worked in the watershed, but their activities have been primarily monitoring. In the spring of 2006, EPA and DWQ selected the Bolin Creek watershed as one of seven watersheds across NC in which more concentrated restoration and protection efforts would occur. This has contributed to Carrboro and Chapel Hill being awarded Clean Water Management Trust Fund (CWMTF) and 319 grants to assist their efforts in the watershed. Specifically, the grants have helped watershed efforts implement stormwater management measures and stream restoration. Strong committed leadership along with several involved partners are helping make this watershed effort a success as time and results should demonstrate.
