Name: Public Hearing for Triennial Review of Surface Water Quality Standards
WHO: The North Carolina Division of Water Resources, on behalf of the Environmental Management Commission, is providing this notice to initiate a Triennial Review of water quality standards regulations in Title 15A NCAC 02B .0100-.0110, .0201-.0228, .0230-.0231 and .0300-.0317. WHAT: The Division of Water Resources is holding a public hearing to gather comments on water quality criteria including narrative and numeric standards, use classifications and antidegradation policy. Water quality standards are used by the state in various ways, including in setting permit limits, and evaluating water condition per the Clean Water Act. Further comments are sought on chloride variances for the Mt. Olive Pickle Company in Wayne County, and Bay Valley Foods, LLC in Duplin County; a variance from the narrative color standard for Evergreen Paper Products in Haywood County; and Clean Water Act thermal variances.
