Animal Feeding Operations • Collection Systems • Groundwater Protection • Land Application • NPDES Wastewater • Pretreatment • Stormwater • WetlandsAnimal Feeding OperationsResponsible for the permitting and compliance activities of animal feeding operations across the state. Collection SystemsPipelines that carry untreated wastewater from its source - i.e. households, schools, industries - to a wastewater treatment plant. Groundwater ProtectionHelps to protect and preserve the quality of groundwater resources by implementing pollution prevention strategies, compliance assessments, and abatement programs.
Land ApplicationWastewater treatment and disposal that does not discharge to surface waters.
NPDES WastewaterNational Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Program - regulates direct discharges of treated and untreated wastewater to waters of the state.
PretreatmentThe Federal and State Pretreatment Program gives regulatory authority for EPA, States, and municipal governments to control the discharge of industrial wastewater into municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) or Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTWs). Stormwater PermittingNPDES and State permitting.
WetlandsCompliance with federal regulations (401 Certification and Compliance) and state regulations for development activities with the potential to impact wetlands or streams is required.
