Name: Proposed Reclassification of portion of Green River including Lake Adger

WHAT: A public hearing and comment period to address the potential assignment of a Water Supply IV classification to a portion of the Green River watershed including Lake Adger, for the purpose of protecting the proposed use as a water supply. WHEN: The public comment period begins Feb. 17 and runs through April 21, 2014. The public hearing will be held Thursday March 27 beginning at 6 p.m. WHERE: The public hearing will be held at Polk County Middle School, 321 Wolverine Trail, Mill Spring, NC 28756. Oral and written comments may be presented at the meeting. Written comments may also be: mailed to Elizabeth Kountis; DENR/DWR Planning Section; 1617 Mail Service Center; Raleigh, NC 27699-1617 or by email to elizabeth.kountis@ncdenr.gov or faxed to 919-807-6947.

Notices include a summary of the proposed action, and written comments may be submitted before the end of the comment period. Comments will be included in the recommendation to the DWR director or to the Environmental Management Commission for a final decision.

Meetings are opportunities to learn more about a division action or proposal and discuss it with staff and others who are interested.

Hearings are held to gather oral and written comments from the public on a proposed action. Notices of public hearings are published at least 30 days before the hearing occurs. Comments gathered at the hearing or sent to DWR through the mail or email are included in the hearing record presented to the Environmental Management Commission or the division director.
