The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) in the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources is the agency responsible for statewide regulatory programs in groundwater and surface water protection. DWQ's mission is to protect and enhance North Carolina's water resources for the citizens of our state and future generations.
With an administrative staff and seven sections, DWQ has nearly 500 employees at its central office in Raleigh and seven regional offices located around the state.
