Business Operations Group
The Business Operations Group is comprised of several units critical to the administrative functions of the division including the Budget Office, federal Grants Management, the Information Processing unit and Technical Assistance and Certification. Support staff for the Well Contractors Certification Commission is also based in this office.
The Grants Management Program provides consolidated management of the 106 Water Pollution Control grant and assists with project management of STAG, 104(b) and other competitive grants. In addition, the unit researches and identifies new grant opportunities and supports division staff in developing applications, work plans and budgets for grants. The Information Processing Unit encompasses the division's central files and is responsible for the data entry of permit compliance information, well construction records and groundwater data. The Staff Services Office provides division personnel with benefits, payroll and timesheet management, facilities management, staff development, educational training, and general safety and health consultation services. Technical Assistance and Certification Unit is the administrative arm of North Carolina's Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission. The unit provides technical support to the commission, and manages educational opportunities and the certification program for operators of a variety of waste treatment systems. The purpose of the Well Contractors Certification Commission is to protect the public health and safety by ensuring the integrity and competence of well contractors through examination, certification and enforcement.
