If you have been designated as a Primary Operator for a NC UST facility, you need to register for a training course. You must be an employee of the UST owner or operator. Third-party contractors or testing companies are NOT able to serve as primary operators.
For more information visit the operator training page.
There are two options for obtaining Primary Operator training for NC facilities.
Option 1: Attend a NC Tank School, receive hands-on training by UST staff in both federal and NC requirements, pass an exam, and become a trained Primary Operator. There is NO cost for this option. You must include your facility ID # when you register. Your facility ID # is found on your permit and has the following format: ##-#-00000#####
Option 2: Complete an online class, receive training in federal requirements only, pass an online exam, and become a trained Primary Operator. Private companies charge a FEE for this option. Choose the Primary or A/B Operator class.
Use the links in the table below to register for the online courses from one of the 3 approved vendors.
If you choose Option 2, it is YOUR responsibility to email verification of training to the UST section. Include your facility ID in this email. You can (1) forward an email from the company or (2) send/forward the training certificate you recieve from the company.
Without an email from you, your training records can not be updated and potential NOVs will not be removed.
