CDBG-I Public Schools Infrastructure ProgramTraining InformationApplication Forms & Information
How to Apply Trainings for Public Schools InfrastructureIn the 2016 General Assembly session, the General Assembly appropriated approximately $4.5 million to the N. C. Department of Environmental Quality for grants that would resolve water and wastewater problems at public schools. The funds are federal funds, originally from the N. C. Department of Commerce’s Community Development Block Grant program. The funds are deobligated program funds from previous fiscal years that need to be obligated in order to close out those fiscal years. The funds do not have any administrative dollars attached to them. We are offering awards of $1.0 million for construction of needed upgrades, rehabilitation, or replacement of on-site school water or sewer infrastructure systems. These schools generally have few options if their well runs dry or becomes contaminated, or if their wastewater treatment system malfunctions. The unit of local government owning the school infrastructure would have to be the applicant, as these grants can only be made to units of general local government. As a result, we want to alert you of this opportunity. Please consider attending, or sending a representative. DATES AND LOCATIONS Training starts at 10:00 am in every location and lasts approximately 1½ to 2 hours.
To make a reservation, please email Delphine Randall at delphine.randall@ncdenr.gov or call her 919-707-9176. She will need your name, affiliation (who you work for), and your email address and phone number. We need to know how many plan to attend the training sessions in order to provide enough handouts for everyone. If there are any questions about this training, please contact Julie Cubeta at 919-707-9189. We look forward to seeing you!
