The seven-member Soil & Water Conservation Commission is the policy and rule-making board for state soil and water conservation programs. The commission provides overall supervision of the state’s 96 conservation districts and allocates  technical and financial assistance in the form of cost share funds, administratiave assistance to complete the soils resource inventory for the state, establishes agricultural rules and watershed project agreements under Public Law 83-566, settles programmatic contract disputes and appoints supervisors who provide local guidance and direction for conservation programs in their district.
