Moving into a Greener Future

DENR employees are preparing for the big move to Green Square. Here is a consolidated list of resources to help you reduce, reuse and recycle. Thank you for your effort to make this transition as sustainable as possible!
- Technotrash recycling bins are at 2728 Capitol Blvd., the Archdale Building, and Oberlin Road. Please contact your DENR sustainability team representative when your bin becomes full.*
- Orange Recycling is the contracted recycling company for offices in the Raleigh area. The list of accepted items is long, so please review what is accepted by going to: www.ncfacilitymanagement.net/documents/whatcanberecycled.pdf.
- There is an opportunity to share state resources between divisions via the swap shop forum that has been set up by the sustainability team on the DENR Portal. To learn more, go to: portal.ncdenr.org/group/sustainability/forums/-/message_boards/category/3596840.
- Books with a hard cover and binders are being collected separately. If you wish to dispose of hardback books, please follow this process:
- Fill out the recycling request form at http://www.ncfacilitymanagement.net/recycleprog.htm and attach it to an e-mail to Recycling.Coordinator@doa.nc.gov.
- Recycling pick-ups are normally on Fridays. Your agency will be billed for this service. Cost is ~ 10 cents per pound of books and $200 per ton of books.
- The N.C. Department of Administration will collect items not accepted by state surplus including binders, folders and hanging folders. Please place these items in a box in the hallways so that they are available for pick up.
