About the Mountain Resources Commission
Enabling LegislationDuring the 2009 legislative session, the General Assembly established the Mountain Resources Commission in Chapter 153B: Mountain Resources Planning Act to encourage quality growth and development while preserving the natural resources, open spaces and farmland of the mountain region of Western North Carolina. This was signed into law by Governor Perdue on Aug. 26, 2009. Mountain Resources Commission GoalsThe MRC annually reviews its goals and objectives for the coming year and amends them as necessary. The goals listed here were originally approved in 2010. The current goals which were approved in August 2012 are posted here. |
