RE: SHELLFISH POLLUTED AREA
Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, upon the recommendation of Jeffrey P. Engel, M.D., State Health Director, Department of Health and Human Services, hereby announces that the following shellfish area closure will take effect immediately:
No person shall take or attempt to take any oysters, clams or mussels or possess, sell or offer for sale any oysters, clams or mussels taken from the following polluted area:
The following area in Carteret County that was opened to shellfish harvesting on a temporary basis shall return to the status in existence immediately prior to the May 12, 2011 temporary opening:
Bogue Sound Area – All those waters in the Bogue Sound closed area between Intracoastal Waterway Channel Markers #14 and #19 with the exception of all those waters in Gull Harbor and within 275 feet from the last dockage area, all those waters in Soundview canals and within 325 feet of the last dockage area, all those waters in Jumping Run Creek and within 275 feet of the last dockage area, and all other tributaries, creeks and canals from the mouth upstream within said boundaries.
