RE: SHELLFISH MANAGEMENT AREAS
Dr. Louis B. Daniel, III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the following Shellfish Management Areas will close to the taking of clams effective at sunrise, Saturday, May 31, 2014.
I. AREA DESCRIPTIONS
ALL SHELLFISH MANAGEMENT AREAS IN NEW RIVER AND ALLIGATOR BAY
II. GENERAL INFORMATION
A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-182; 113-221; 143B-289.52 and implementing N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rules 15A NCAC 03H .0103 and 03K .0103.
B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority per N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rule 15A NCAC 03H .0103.
C. The intent of this proclamation is to enhance growth and increase spawning and disease resistance among oysters and clams for the benefit and conservation of the shellfish resources within.

E. This proclamation supersedes a portion of SF-8-2013 dated October 3, 2013, and Alligator Bay, Everett’s Bay, and Traps Bay Spoil Shellfish Management Areas continue to remain closed.
