PROCLAMATION

RE: CRAB, EEL, FISH AND SHRIMP POTS

Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 7:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 19, 2012, the following will apply to crab, eel, fish, and shrimp pots:

Pots MAY NOT BE SET in the following area from 7:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.

I. AREA

Cedar Island Bay – Carteret County
In an area bound by a line beginning at a point on the south shore 34° 57.6361’N – 76° 16.5838’W; running northeasterly to a point on the north shore 34° 58.4562’N – 76° 15.8249’W; running northwesterly following the shoreline across the opening to Back Bay to a point 34° 59.4963’N – 76° 16.7261’W; running southwesterly to a point 34° 58.9477’N – 76° 17.9125’W; running southeasterly following the shoreline to the point of beginning (see map).

II. GENERAL INFORMATION:

A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rules 15A NCAC 3H.0103 and 3J.0301.

B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rule 15A NCAC 3H.0103.

C. The intent of this proclamation is to allow long haul seining to occur in an area free of crab pots. The proclamation was approved by the Marine Fisheries Commission on July 20, 2004 in accordance with Marine Fisheries Commission Rule 15A NCAC 3J .0301 (j).

D. Hatched area on the attached map indicates the area designated for long haul operations. Pots must be removed from this area during the times indicated above.
