RE: SHELLFISH POLLUTED AREA
Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, upon the recommendation of Robin Cummings, M.D., Acting State Health Director, Department of Health and Human Services, hereby announces that the following change in shellfish harvesting areas will take effect at sunrise, Thursday, July 3, 2014.
All those waters in Pender and Onslow Counties will return to the status in existence immediately prior to the June 28, 2014, temporary closures.
The following remains closed:
BRUNSWICK / CARTERET COUNTIES
All those waters between IWW marker "84" near Ocean Isle and the South Carolina State Line, to include the Tubbs Inlet area.
Bogue Sound – All those waters in Bogue Sound from the Intracoastal Waterway to the mainland, between IWW Marker “27” near Broad Creek, and IWW Marker “24”.
Hoop Pole Creek - All those waters in the Hoop Pole Creek area upstream of a line beginning on a point of marsh at 34°42.4519’ N -76°45.1967’ W; running southeasterly across the bay to a point of marsh at 34°42.4429’ N -76°45.1829’ W; running southeasterly following the shoreline to a point at 34°42.4069’ N -76°45.1285’ W; running southeasterly across the creek to a point 34°42.3984’ N -76°45.1098’ W on the eastern shore.
A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rules 15A NCAC 03H . 0103 and 03K .0101.
B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the N.C. Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rule 15A NCAC 03H .0103.
C. This proclamation returns the following area to normal closure boundaries: Stump Sound
D. This reopening is due to satisfactory bacteriological sampling results.
