PROCLAMATION
RE: SHELLFISH POLLUTED AREA
Braxton Davis, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, upon the recommendation of Megan Davies, M.D., Acting State Health Director, Department of Health and Human Services, hereby announces that the following changes in shellfish harvesting areas will take effect at sunrise, Saturday, May 7, 2016.
All those waters in Onslow and Carteret Counties will return to the status in existence immediately prior to the May 4, 2016, temporary closures except the following which will remain closed:
ONSLOW / CARTERET COUNTIES
All those waters bordered on the northeast by a straight line from Swan Point through IWW Channel Marker ”4” to the eastern tip of West Onslow Beach, (south shore of New River Inlet), and bordered on the southwest by the Surf City Bridge.
Salliers Bay – All those waters in Salliers Bay upstream of a straight line across the mouth.
Freeman Creek – All those waters in Freeman Creek upstream of a straight line across the mouth.
All those waters from the Intracoastal Waterway to the mainland between IWW Beacon “58” and IWW Beacon “49”, to include Bear Creek and Queens Creek.
Newport River - All those waters in Newport River upstream of a line beginning near Penn Point on the south shore at a point 34° 45.6960' N - 76° 43.5180' W running northeasterly to a point 34° 46.5733' N - 76° 42.6350' W on the north shore near Hardesty Farms subdivision.
North River – All those waters in North River upstream of a line beginning at a point on the west shore at 34° 46.0383' N - 76° 37.0633' W, running easterly to a point on the east shore at 34° 46.2667' N - 76° 35.4933' W. (North River DMF Shrimp Line).
Oyster Creek – All those waters in Oyster Creek upstream of a straight line across the mouth.
The following also remains closed:
BRUNSWICK / PENDER COUNTIES
All those waters between IWW Beacon "84" and the South Carolina Line.
Lockwoods Folly River - All those waters north of a line beginning on the west shore at a point 33°55.7954’N - 78°13.3096’ W approximately midway between Genoes Point and Spring Creek; running southeasterly to a point 33°55.2284’N - 78°12.7791’ W near the northwest point of Horse Island, to include the open portion of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway north of Horse Island.
All those waters from the IWW to the mainland, between the Surf City Bridge and Beacon “98A”, near Howard Landing, to include Old Topsail Creek, Virginia Creek, and all other creeks and tributaries within said boundaries.
