PROCLAMATION
RE: SHELLFISH POLLUTED AREA
Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, upon the recommendation of Robin Cummings, M.D., Acting State Health Director, Department of Health and Human Services, hereby announces that the following shellfish area changes and closures will take effect at immediately:
No person shall take or attempt to take any oysters, clams or mussels or possess, sell or offer for sale any oysters, clams or mussels taken from the following polluted areas:
The following changes are additional closures to shellfish harvesting and the new closure descriptions are as follows:
NEW HANOVER COUNTY
MYRTLE GROVE SOUND AREA (B-5) – Map 46
m) Masonboro Island Area – All those waters within a boundary beginning at a point 34° 04.9600' N -77° 52.8241' W near Carolina Beach Inlet on the northwest tip of US Army Corps of Engineers dredge disposal island #272; running northerly across the creek mouth to a point 34° 05.0695' N -77° 52.8039' W on the southwest tip of US Army Corps of Engineers dredge disposal island #271; running northerly following the inside shoreline to a point 34° 05.1871' N -77° 52.7575' W on the northwest tip the island; running northerly to a point 34° 05.2372' N -77° 52.7495' W on the southwest tip of US Army Corps of Engineers dredge disposal island #270; running northerly following the inside shoreline to a point 34° 05.2937' N -77° 52.7272' W on the northwest tip of the island; running northeasterly across the creek mouth to a point 34° 05.3799' N -77° 52.6817' W on the southwest tip of the marsh island; running northerly following the inside shoreline to a point 34° 05.4962' N -77° 52.6019' W on the island; running easterly across Dicks Bay to a point 34° 05.4321' N -77° 52.1107' W on Masonboro Island; running southerly following the inside shoreline of Masonboro Island to the starting point 34° 04.9600' N -77° 52.8241' W near Carolina Beach Inlet on the northwest tip of US Army Corps of Engineers dredge disposal island #272.
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH AREA (B-7) – Map 44
b) Howe Creek Area – All those waters in the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) and Howe Creek within a boundary beginning at a point 34° 15.2059' N -77° 46.9367' W on the mainland north of Howe Creek; running southeasterly across the IWW to a point 34° 15.0893' N -77° 46.7682' W on US Army Corps of Engineers dredge disposal island #241; running southwesterly to a point 34° 14.9749' N -77° 46.8585' W on the southwest tip of the island; running southwesterly across the channel to a point 34° 14.8473' N -77° 46.9681' W on the northwest tip of US Army Corps of Engineers dredge disposal island #242; running southwesterly to a point 34° 14.6492' N -77° 47.1335' W on the Island; running northwesterly across the IWW to a point 34° 14.7976' N -77° 47.4168' W on the mainland south of Howe Creek.
