PROCLAMATION
RE: SHELLFISH POLLUTED AREA
Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, upon the recommendation of Robin Cummings, M.D., Acting State Health Director, Department of Health and Human Services, hereby announces that the following shellfish area temporary closures will take effect immediately:
No person shall take or attempt to take any oysters, clams or mussels or possess, sell or offer for sale any oysters, clams or mussels taken from the following polluted areas:
ONSLOW COUNTY
Freeman Creek – All those waters in Freeman Creek upstream of a straight line across the mouth.
The following also remains closed:
BRUNSWICK / ONSLOW / CARTERET COUNTIES
All those waters between Southport and the South Carolina State line.
All those waters from the IWW to the mainland between IWW Marker “51” near Morris Landing and IWW Marker “37” near Spicer Bay.
Bear Creek - All those waters in Bear Creek upstream of a straight line across the mouth.
All those waters from the IWW to the mainland between IWW Beacon “55” and IWW Fl. Beacon “49”, near Swansboro, to include all of Queens Creek.
White Oak River - All those waters in White Oak River upstream of the Highway 24 Bridge at Swansboro.
Hoop Pole Creek- All those waters in the Hoop Pole Creek area upstream of a line beginning on a point of marsh at 34°42.4519’ N -76°45.1967’ W; running southeasterly across the bay to a point of marsh at 34°42.4429’ N -76°45.1829’ W; running southeasterly following the shoreline to a point at 34°42.4069’ N -76°45.1285’ W; running southeasterly across the creek to a point 34°42.3984’ N -76°45.1098’ W on the eastern shore.
Newport River - All those waters in Newport River upstream of the Highway 70 High Rise Bridge and Morehead-Beaufort Causeway, to include all tributaries and Core Creek.
