PROCLAMATION

RE: SHELLFISH POLLUTED AREA


Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, upon the recommendation of Megan Davies, M.D., Acting State Health Director, Department of Health and Human Services, hereby announces that the following change in shellfish harvesting areas will take effect at sunrise, Saturday, October 17, 2015.

All those waters in New Hanover, Pender, Onslow, Carteret, Pamlico, Beaufort, Hyde, and Dare Counties will return to the status in existence immediately prior to the September 25, October 2, October 3, and October 5, 2015, temporary closures except the following which will remain closed:

NEW HANOVER / PENDER / ONSLOW / CARTERET / PAMLICO / BEAUFORT / HYDE / DARE COUNTIES

All those waters
between IWW Marker “139”, near Whiskey Creek, and IWW Beacon “32” near Lockwoods Folly River, to include Cape Fear River and Myrtle Grove Sound.

All those waters between IWW Marker “37”, near Everett Bay, and the Surf City Bridge.

All those waters from the Intracoastal Waterway to the mainland between IWW Channel Marker #4 near Swan Point and IWW Channel Marker #15 near Galleon Bay.

All those waters from the Intracoastal Waterway to the mainland between the IWW Marker #49 and IWW Marker #65A, located just west of Salliers Bay, to include, Salliers Bay, Freeman Creek, Bear Creek, Queens Creek, , and all other creeks and tributaries within said boundaries.

Newport River - All those waters in Newport River upstream of a straight line beginning at a point on the south shore at 34° 45.6646' N – 76° 44.0603’ W, at Lawton Point; thence to a point on the north shore at 34º 46.5724' N -76º 44.3786' W just upstream of Hammock Rock and east of a line beginning at a point on the shore at 34o 46.2251’ N -76o 40.5919’ W near Ware Creek; running southerly to IWW Beacon #30A; running southeasterly to a point on the shore at 34o 44.9871’ N -76o 39.4677’ W near Wading Creek  (see map).

Back Sound – All those waters between the permanent closure line at Fort Macon and a line running from Channel Marker #56B southwesterly to the Rock Jetty on Shackleford Banks.

All those waters in Bear Creek (Pamlico County) upstream of a line at the mouth between Sand Point and Sanders Point.

All those waters in Swanquarter Bay upstream of a line beginning at a point on the west shore at 34o 24.6204’ N -76o 21.0791’ W; running southeasterly to a point on the east shore at 34o 24.5704’ N -76o 20.9404’ W.

All those waters within 100 yards of the Outfall Canal near North Bluff Point.

All those waters in Hickory Creek upstream of a line at the mouth.

All those waters in Wysocking Bay upstream of a line beginning at a point on the west shore at Mackey Point; running southeasterly to a point on the east shore at 35o 25.1187’ N -76o 2.0775’ W near the mouth of Lone Tree Creek.

All those waters within 100 yards of the outfall canal near Brooks Creek.

All those waters in Long Shoal River upstream of a line beginning at a point on the west shore at 35o 37.3324’ N -75o 53.0802’ W; running easterly to a point on the east shore at 35o 37.2114’ N -75o 52.2099’ W.

All those waters¿200 yards offshore between the north side of Ocracoke Inlet and the south side of Oregon Inlet, to include Ocracoke and Hatteras Islands.
