PROCLAMATION

RE: SHELLFISH POLLUTED AREA

Stephen W. Murphey, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, upon the recommendation of Betsey Tilson, M.D., M.P.H., State Health Director, Department of Health and Human Services, hereby announces that the following changes in shellfish harvesting areas will take effect at sunrise, Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

All those waters in Carteret County will return to the status in existence immediately prior to the September 13, 2018 temporary closures except the following which will remain closed.

CARTERET COUNTY

All those waters bordered on the northeast by a line beginning at a point 34° 54.2203' N -76° 18.8592' W near Hall Point in Atlantic, running southeasterly to Beacon “20”; thence running southwesterly to Beacon “33” in Core Sound; thence running southwesterly to Green Marker “37” off Jarrett Bay; thence running southwesterly to Shell Point on Harkers Island; thence running northwesterly following the south shore of Harkers Island to a point along the southwestern tip of Harkers Island at 34° 42.0981' N - 76° 35.0718' W; thence running southerly through Bottle Run Point to a point on Shackleford Banks at 34° 40.1094' N - 76° 35.1799' W; and bordered on the southwest by the South Carolina State Line, to include all of Brunswick, New Hanover, Pender, and Onslow Counties, White Oak River, Bogue Sound, Newport River, North River, Straits, Whitehurst Creek, Sleepy Creek, Jarrett Bay, Oyster Creek, Brett Bay, Nelson Bay, a portion of Back Sound, and a portion of Core Sound.

All those waters in Thorofare Bay west of a line beginning at Lookout Point, running across Thorofare Bay to Hall Point near Atlantic.

All those waters in Cedar Island Bay bounded in the north and east be a line beginning at a point 34° 59.1474' N - 76° 16.3156' W on Hog Island, running southeasterly to a point 34° 58.9645' N - 76° 16.1410' W; thence following the shoreline to Hog Island Point; thence running southwesterly to Long Point, to include Cedar Island Bay and Lewis Creek .

All those waters bordered on the east by a line beginning at a point 35° 37.5368' N -75° 44.1327' W near Sandy Point and Stumpy Point Bay, thence running southwesterly to a point 35° 05.9383' N -76° 02.8513' W near the northern tip of Beacon Island, thence running southwesterly to a point 35° 00.3020' N -76° 16.5345' W on the north shore of Cedar Island, to include West Bay, Long Bay, Turnagain Bay, Neuse River, Bay River, Jones Bay, Pamlico River, Pungo River, Rose Bay, Swanquarter Bay, Juniper Bay, Wysocking Bay, Long Shoal River, and portions of Pamlico Sound.
