PROCLAMATION
RE: SHELLFISH POLLUTED AREA
Braxton Davis, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, upon the recommendation of Randall Williams, M.D., State Health Director, Department of Health and Human Services, hereby announces that the following changes in shellfish harvesting areas will take effect at sunrise, Friday, September 9, 2016.
All those waters in Onslow and Carteret Counties will return to the status in existence immediately prior to the September 3, 2016, temporary closures except the following which remain closed:
ONSLOW / CARTERET COUNTIES
All those waters bordered on the northeast by Fl. Beacon “65A”, near Salliers Bay; and bordered on the southwest by a line beginning at a point on the mainland near Forest Sound Marina, running southerly through IWW Beacon “98A”, following the eastern shore of Black Mud Channel to a point on the southern tip of Topsail Beach; to include a portion of Topsail Sound, Stump Sound, and New River.
All those waters from the Intracoastal Waterway to the mainland between IWW Beacon “58”, near Bear Creek, and Fl. Beacon “65A”, near Salliers Bay, to include Salliers Bay and Freeman Creek.
All those waters in the Bear Inlet area bordered on the northeast by a line beginning at a point on the mainland near Queens Creek at 34° 39.6483' N - 77° 9.3087' W, running southerly though the Turn Marker at Cow Channel, following Cow Channel to the Ferry Landing at Hammocks Beach; and bordered on the southwest by a line beginning at a point on the mainland near Bear Creek at 34° 37.9827' N - 77° 12.3159' W, running southerly through IWW Beacon “58” and following the eastern shore of Bear Creek to a point on Browns Island at 34° 36.9559' N - 77° 11.4440' W, to include Bear Creek (see map).
All those waters from the Intracoastal Waterway to the mainland between the Emerald Isle High-rise Bridge and the Turn Marker at Cow Channel near Queens Creek, to include Queens Creek and White Oak River.
All those waters bordered on the northeast by a line beginning at a point on the mainland near Sanders Point on the eastern shore of Goose Creek, in Carteret County, running southwesterly through IWW Beacon “36” to Archer Point on Emerald Isle; and bordered on the southwest by the Emerald Isle High-rise Bridge.
All those waters from the Intracoastal Waterway to the mainland between the Morehead City permanent closure line near 16th Street and IWW Beacon “36” near Goose Creek.
Newport River - All those waters in Newport River upstream of the Highway 70 High Rise Bridge and Morehead-Beaufort Causeway, to include all tributaries and Core Creek
Jarrett Bay / North River and The Straits - All those waters bordered on the east by a line beginning at a point on the east shore of Spit Bay; thence in a straight line to the southern end of Davis Island; thence in a straight line thru Flashing Beacon #36; thence in a straight line to the southeast end of Bells Island; thence in a straight line to the eastern end of Browns Island; thence in a straight line to Shell Point on Harkers Island; thence following the shoreline to the southwestern tip of Harkers Island; thence in a straight line to Channel Marker #56A; thence proceeding thru Beacon #58 to Beacon #59 to a point on Carrot Island. This includes Jarrett Bay, Middens Creek, Tusk Creek, Jump Run Creek, Bells Creek, The Straits, Sleepy Creek, Whitehurst Creek, Eastmouth Bay, Westmouth Bay, all of North River, including Ward Creek and the North River Marshes, and all creeks and tributaries within the described area.
Oyster Creek - All those waters in Oyster Creek upstream of a straight line across the mouth.
