RE: GILL NETS AND SEINES – SPOONERS CREEK
Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 12:01 A.M., Sunday, May 3, 2015, the following restrictions implemented by proclamation M-13-2002 for gill nets and seines in Spooners Creek are rescinded:
I. AREA DESCRIPTION:
Spooners Creek Entrance Channel in Bogue Sound, all of Spooners Creek proper and the adjoining tributary canals and channels.
II. NET RESTRICTIONS:
No recreational or commercial gill nets or seines may be used in Spooners Creek or the entrance channel leading to Spooners Creek from sunset to sunrise year round.
III. GENERAL INFORMATION:
A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-182; 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-221(e); 143B- 289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103 and 3J .0103.
B. It is unlawful to violate provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority per 15A NCAC 3H .0103 (b).
C. The intent of this proclamation is to rescind proclamation M-13-2002 in order to manage gill nets and seines in Spooners Creek in accordance with N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 03J .0402.
D. In accordance with N.C. General Statute 113-221.1(c) All persons who may be affected by proclamations issued by the Fisheries Director are under a duty to keep themselves informed of current proclamations.
