PROCLAMATION

RE: STRIPED BASS RECREATIONAL ATLANTIC OCEAN

Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 12:01 A.M., Thursday January 1, 2015, the following restrictions will apply to the recreational harvest of striped bass in the Atlantic Ocean waters of North Carolina:

I. SIZE, CREEL, AND SEASON LIMITS

A. It is unlawful to possess striped bass less than 28 inches total length taken by hook and line or for recreational purposes from the Atlantic Ocean.

B. It is unlawful to take or possess more than one (1) striped bass per person per day taken by hook and line or for recreational purposes from the Atlantic Ocean.

C. Striped bass may be taken by hook and line or for recreational purposes in the Atlantic Ocean seven days a week. The season is open year round.

D. It is unlawful to sell or purchase striped bass taken by hook-and-line.
II. GENERAL INFORMATION
A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.3, 113 170.4; 113 170.5; 113 182; 113 221.1; 143B 289.52; and N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rules 15A NCAC 03H .0103; 03M .0201 and 03M .0204.

B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rule 15A NCAC 03H .0103.

C. The intent of this proclamation is to allow the recreational harvest of striped bass in the Atlantic Ocean in compliance with Addendum IV to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Interstate Fisheries Management Plan for Atlantic Striped Bass.

D. All undersized or over creel limit striped bass shall be immediately returned to the waters where taken regardless of the condition of the fish.

E. In accordance with 15A NCAC 03O .0303, recreational size and creel limits apply to holders of Recreational Commercial Gear License.

G. This proclamation supersedes FF-30-2014. It sets new harvest restrictions for the Atlantic Ocean recreational striped bass fishery.
