RE: STRIPED BASS SEASON - BEACH SEINES AND TRAWLS: ATLANTIC OCEAN
Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 12:01 A.M., Tuesday, April 1, 2014, the following will apply to the harvest of striped bass with beach seines and trawls in the Atlantic Ocean waters of North Carolina:
I. SEASON CLOSURE
The Atlantic Ocean beach seine and trawl harvest seasons for striped bass are closed.
II. GENERAL INFORMATION
A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52; and N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rules 15A NCAC 03H .0103, 03J .0103, 03M .0201, 03M .0204 and 03O .0500 et seq.
B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rule 15A NCAC 03H .0103.

D. The intent of this proclamation is to close the commercial striped bass beach seine and trawl fisheries in the Atlantic Ocean. It supersedes Proclamations FF-59-2013, dated November 19, 2013 and FF-4-2014, dated January 17, 2014 which opened the Atlantic Ocean beach seine and trawl fisheries, respectively.
