N.C. Boating Infrastructure Grant Program

N.C. BIG Program Accomplishments

Since 2002, NC DENR Division of Marine Fisheries has been awarded over $2.5 million from the US Fish & Wildlife Service Boating Infrastructure Grant Program. North Carolina has received 11 Tier I grant awards, and has successfully competed for 6 Tier II grant awards. These awards have and may result in 19 projects in eight coastal counties, totaling more than $2.7 million in improvements for transient boaters. Funds have been provided to ten local municipalities, one state agency, one university, and five private businesses. To date, 11 projects have been completed, providing 85 transient slips and amenities across the coast. Seven projects are currently underway. Once completed, an additional 43 transient slips and amenities will be constructed or renovated.
