MOREHEAD CITY — The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries will hold a public hearing on proposed shellfish leases in Pender County at 6 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Topsail Beach Town Hall, 820 S. Anderson Blvd., Topsail Beach.
Coastal Roots Oyster Company (David Roughton, agent) has applied for a 0.76-acre bottom and water column lease in Green Channel, Richs Inlet.
Michael Conor MacNair has applied to expand his water column lease in the Seaside Areas, Topsail Sound by 3.17 acres. He has also applied for two water column amendments in the Seaside Areas, Topsail Sound, one for 4.88 acres and the other for 3.05 acres.
A map of the proposed leases, with corresponding lease numbers and GIS coordinates, can be found here.
The public may comment on the proposed lease at the hearing or in writing. Written comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. Jan. 13 and should be submitted to the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries, Shellfish Leases, P.O. Box 769, Morehead City, N.C. 28557.
The application file and biologist report for the proposed leases are available for inspection during office hours at the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries’ Headquarters Office at 3441 Arendell St. in Morehead City.

MOREHEAD CITY — The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries will hold a public hearing on proposed shellfish leases in Carteret County on Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. at the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries Central District Office, 5285 U.S. 70 West, Morehead City.
Joseph O. Taylor has applied for a 4.04-acre water column amendment in Nelson Bay.
Benjamin Davey has applied to lease 5.53 acres of shellfish bottom and water column in Pettiford Creek Bay.
Big Rock Oysters, LLC, (James Kyle Frey, agent), has applied to lease 0.94 acres of shellfish bottom in the Newport River.
Derris Warren has applied to lease 2.37 acres of shellfish bottom in the Newport River.
