MOREHEAD CITY — The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries will hold a public hearing on proposed shellfish leases in Pender County at 6 p.m. Nov. 28, 2018 at the Surf City Visitor’s Center, 102 North Shore Drive, Surf City.
Middle Sound Mariculture, LLC, James Hargrove (Agent) has applied for a 1.12-acre bottom and water column lease in Banks Channel.
Falling Tide Farms, LLC, Keith Walls (Agent) has applied for two leases in Banks Channel, one a 0.62-acre bottom and water column lease and the other a 0.89-acre lease.

The public may comment on the proposed leases at the hearing or in writing. Written comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. Nov. 27 and should be submitted to the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries, Shellfish Leases, P.O. Box 769, Morehead City, N.C. 28557.
The application file and biologist report for the proposed leases are available for inspection during office hours at the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries’ Headquarters Office at 3441 Arendell St. in Morehead City.

MOREHEAD CITY — The Blue Crab Fishery Management Plan Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Washington Regional Office, 943 Washington Square Mall, Washington.
The committee is meeting to continue assisting the Division of Marine Fisheries with development of Amendment 3 to the Blue Crab Fishery Management Plan. Agenda items include reviewing a draft section of the plan amendment and issue papers pertaining to sustainable harvest and additional stock protection measures. The purpose of these draft issue papers is to solicit input from the public and the advisory committee; therefore, they are subject to change.

MOREHEAD CITY — The Southern Flounder Fishery Management Plan Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Washington regional office, 943 Washington Square Mall, Washington.
The committee is assisting the Division of Marine Fisheries with development of Amendment 2 to the Southern Flounder Fishery Management Plan. Agenda items include presentations on the updated stock assessment and draft sections of the plan. The committee is also scheduled to approve the draft goal and objectives for the amendment6 and set its 2019 meeting schedule.
