MEDIA ADVISORY: Blue Crab Advisory Committee to meet
MOREHEAD CITY — The Blue Crab Fishery Management Plan Advisory Committee will meet Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. at the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality Regional Office, 943 Washington Square Mall, Washington.
The committee is assisting the Division of Marine Fisheries with development of Amendment 3 to the Blue Crab Fishery Management Plan.
Agenda items include:
- Reviewing the public comment and the recommendations from other advisory committees received on the draft amendment; and
- Selecting the committee’s final management recommendations for the Marine Fisheries Commission.
Draft Amendment 3 to the Blue Crab Fishery Management Plan contains several proposals to achieve sustainable harvest as well as additional blue crab and habitat protection measures. Details of the proposed management changes can be found on a Blue Crab Information Page on the division’s website.
The Marine Fisheries Commission is scheduled to consider public comment and advisory committee input and select its preferred management measures for departmental and legislative review at its November meeting and give final approval of the amendment in February 2020. Approved management measures will be implemented shortly afterward by proclamation.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Fisheries Commission’s Coastal Recreational
Fishing License Advisory Committee to meet
MOREHEAD CITY — The Marine Fisheries Commission’s Coastal Recreational Fishing License Advisory Committee will meet on Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. at the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries’ Headquarters Office, 3441 Arendell St., Morehead City.
The committee, made up of four Marine Fisheries Commission members, is meeting to give input to the Division of Marine Fisheries on applications received in response to the 2019 Request for Proposal Application for funding from Coastal Recreational Fishing License proceeds.
