Blue Crab Fishery Management Plan Advisory Committee to meet
MOREHEAD CITY — The Blue Crab Fishery Management Plan Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Sep. 12 at the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Washington regional of-fice, 943 Washington Square Mall, Washington.
The committee is meeting to assist the Division of Marine Fisheries with development of Amendment 3 to the Blue Crab Fishery Management Plan. Agenda items include an update on the sta-tus of biological indicators of the health of the blue crab stock, known as the Blue Crab Traffic Light.

Marine Fisheries Commission seeks advisers
for southern flounder committee
MOREHEAD CITY — The N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission is looking for commercial and recreational fishermen and scientists to serve on the Southern Flounder Fishery Management Plan Advisory Committee.
The committee will assist the Division of Marine Fisheries in amending the Southern Flounder Fishery Management Plan. The commission uses fishery management plans as guides for imple-menting regulations and other management measures. The committee is expected to begin meeting in the spring of 2018.
Individuals interested in serving as an adviser should be willing to attend meetings at least once a month and participate in the committee process. Advisers will be reimbursed for travel and other expenses incurred in relation to their official duties.

Public hearing on proposed shellfish leases in Carteret County
rescheduled due to tropical storm forecast
MOREHEAD CITY — The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries has rescheduled a public hearing on multiple proposed shellfish leases in Carteret County due to the forecast of a tropical storm.
The hearing has been postponed to 6 p.m. Sept. 12 and will be held at the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries’ Central District Office, 5285 U.S. Hwy. 70 West, Morehead City.
Seven of the eight proposed leases, originally scheduled for Tuesday, will be heard Sept. 12. The date and time of a public hearing on Samuel G. Boyd’s application to lease 4.69 acres of shell-fish bottom and water column near Bogue Sound, will be announced later.
The following proposed leases will be heard Sept. 12:
Sandbar Oyster Company (David Cessna, agent) has applied to lease 0.56 acres of shellfish bottom lease near North River Marsh and 0.7 acres of shellfish bottom in North River Marsh.
Dallas D. Goodwin of Morehead City has applied to lease 1.65 acres of shellfish bottom and water column near Cedar Island Bay.
Jarrett Bay Oyster Company (Kolby L. Martin, agent) has applied to lease 3.27 acres of shellfish bottom and water column near Core Sound.
James A. Morris of Sea Level has applied to lease 2.64 acres of water column on existing shellfish bottom lease No. 9510; 1.89 acres of water column on existing shellfish bottom lease No. 9509 near Core Sound, Nelson Bay; and 2.57 acres of water column on existing shellfish bottom lease No. 9108, near Core
Sound, Nelson Bay.

Paul B. Hargove of Wilmington has applied to lease 4.17 acres of water bottom and water column near Stump Sound.
Middle Sound Mariculture LLC, Wilmington, (James M. Hargove, agent) has applied to lease 4.75 acres of water bottom and water column near Stump Sound.
