Detail System Design Existing InfrastructureAll of the system components used for the Portal, except for the Portal application server itself, reuse preexisting DENR network and server infrastructure components, currently in use by other DENR architectures, such as IBEAM. By using this existing common infrastructure, DENR ITS can leverage all infrastructure investments for the Portal as well. All existing operational tasks, administrative tasks, and security measures also apply to the Portal. Server LocationThe Portal application server is deployed on the existing hardened internal network segment. ConfigurationThe proxy web server requires additional configuration settings to permit traffic to and from the Portal. A public DNS entry for the Portal's system and domain name has been created, using the address of the proxy web server. If a different system and domain name is required by any Portal website, similar proxy web server configuration changes and DNS entries can also be configured.
