Founded in the Fall of 2002, REACH is a NCDENR program that strives to coordinate internship opportunities for college students pursuing degrees that are directly related to the various programs administered by the agency. NCDENR offers a wide variety of internship opportunities that provide real-world experiences which are tied to the agency's mission of "preserving and protecting North Carolina's outstanding natural resources." Through REACH, NCDENR establishes employment opportunities that are mutually beneficial to the agency and the intern. Emphasis is placed on developing working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Although REACH operates throughout the calendar year, the program targets the summer months for paid internship opportunities. Generally speaking, paid internships run for a ten week period starting the first Monday after Memorial Day. Unpaid internships can be arranged outside of the summer months – possibly for college course credit. UPDATE - Thank you for submitting your application for the 2015 REACH Program. All internships have selected their interns for this year's program. We are thankful for your interest in the REACH Program and encourage you to check back later this fall to see details of the 2016 REACH internships.
