David KnightAssistant Secretary for Natural ResourcesDavid Knight is the Assistant Secretary for Natural Resources. Knight oversees the following divisions and offices within the department: Marine Fisheries, Parks and Recreation, Conservation Planning and Community Affairs, the Ecosystem Enhancement Program, the N.C. Zoological Park, N.C. Aquariums Division and the Museum of Natural Sciences.. He also supervises the Natural Heritage Trust Fund Director. David has a bachelor’s degree in political science from UNC-Chapel Hill and a law degree from Wake Forest University Law School. Before becoming Assistant Secretary for Natural Resources, David worked for the NC Nature Conservancy for 4 ½ years as its Director of Government Relations. Prior, he worked as a lobbyist and consultant for such organizations as the NC Sierra Club, the Trust for Public Land, NC Wildlife Federation and NC Planning Association. A native of North Carolina, David lives in Raleigh with his wife and son. |
