River Basin Restoration Priorities
The restoration priorities EEP develops for each of the seventeen river basins in North Carolina are the result of a screening process which includes 1) a “desktop” analysis of Geographic Information System (GIS) data and aerial photographs; 2) review of tables and reports detailing environmental problems and natural resource assets; 3) field reconnaissance of the watersheds in the river; and 4) outreach to interested and involved parties, especially professionals in local jurisdictions who may offer expertise and knowledge of existing initiatives, trends or future plans at a local level. Detailed information on the EEP's methodology for identifying TLWs is provided at EEP's RBRP Update page. |
