The N.C. Board of Transportation today approved an operating budget for the Ecosystem Enhancement Program totaling nearly $78 million for fiscal years 2012-13 and 2013-14.
The budget, based on projected mitigation needs for the N.C. Department of Transportation for unavoidable environmental impacts from transportation-infrastructure improvements, includes EEP's cash-flow projections for administration (staffing and operational costs), restoration, stewardship and watershed planning.
EEP submits budget requests annually to the Board of Transportation to reflect updates in program needs to carry out its mitigation obligations to NCDOT, which are established in a memorandum of agreement between NCDOT and the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
