EEP unveils new electronic payment option

The N.C. Ecosystem Enhancement Program has unveiled the latest in a line of customer-friendly initiatives: Businesses and other organizations that elect to participate in the Statewide Stream and Wetland or Riparian Buffer In Lieu Fee Programs now have the convenience and ability to make payments to EEP through an online electronic fund transfer or “e-check” system. The new system was designed to make the customer experience easier and faster. Customers may find the feature on EEP’s website at ePayment under the Mitigation Applicant tab on the EEP home page.
The new system allows customers to enter their invoice number and invoice amount on the EEP web portal and proceed to a secure third-party payment site (PayPoint) to process the payment. At PayPoint, customers use their bank routing number and account number to complete their payment. Customers can also use third party agents to make payments on their behalf as long as they provide written authorization to EEP In-Lieu Fee Coordinator Kelly Williams in advance of payment.
Once the payment is made online, the customer will receive a payment confirmation screen and email from PayPoint. Upon notification of the payment, EEP will provide a written receipt and any other documentation that a customer’s permits require. EEP still accepts checks by mail or by appointment at EEP’s Raleigh office. For more information regarding the new payment options, contact Kelly Williams.
