February 21, 2013 10:40 AM
The Ecosystem Enhancement Program will work with Wildlands Engineering Inc. on a contract award for development of Phase 1 of the Neuse 01 Regional Watershed Plan (RWP). The initiative represents EEP’s first regional-scale planning effort and encompasses an approximately 575 square-mile area located in Wake and Johnston counties.

The regional focus of the proposed planning area represents a new scale of watershed planning for EEP and allows more flexibility than a Local Watershed Plan and more specificity than a River Basin Restoration Priority plan. The RWP will include a comprehensive stakeholder process that includes representatives of thirteen local counties and municipalities partnerships. The watershed planning process which includes a stakeholder process as well as the utilization of watershed planning tools will identify both traditional and non-traditional project types that will benefit the watersheds within the RWP.
More information on EEP watershed planning may be found on the program’s web portal.
