Innovations in American Government AwardNorth Carolina has created a national model for stream and wetland mitigation through EEP, earning the designation in both 2007 and 2005 as one of the top 50 new government innovations in the nation. The recognition came from the prestigious Innovations in American Government Awards committee, sponsored by the Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and the Council for Excellence in Government in Washington, D.C. More than 1,000 programs from across the nation entered each year's competition, which judged recently developed government initiatives on the basis of creativity, effectiveness in achieving tangible results, significance in addressing important problems of public concern and promise in inspiring successful replication in other states. |
