Museums

North Carolina is home to numerous museums, both publicly and privately owned. Some of the world's most famous paintings and sculptures have visited the art museums of the state. Science  and folk art museums alike are graced with artifacts that have survived eons and tell the stories of life through the ages. Museums may be the most perfect venue for environmental education in that they provide visitors with a view into the past, present and future and can demonstrate the importance of the preservation of all living things. All museums can become a part of this process by providing recycling opportunities and environmental conservation educational materials and presentations.
