Environmental Assistance and Outreach
Sustainability Sustainability means the ability to endure over time. In the environmental sense of the word, it describes how ecosystems can remain productive in the long term by being well-maintained through careful monitoring and wise management. The N.C. Division of Environmental Assistance and Outreach (NC DEAO) provides free, non-regulatory technical assistance to businesses to help them become environmentally sustainable and more profitable. Our services include energy, water and waste assessments. Through partnerships and referrals we work to identify cost-effective sustainable practices and to incorporate environmental management techniques and “green” technologies such as renewable energy and the use of affordable water conservation equipment. We also assist local governments with the development of waste reduction and recycling programs through our grant programs and educational outreach. NC DEAO provides outreach to citizens to help enrich their lives through our website and call center, providing information about how households can reduce their impact on the environment through conservation and wise consumerism. |
