Accelerator License (Licensing Requirements for Particle Accelerators)
What Activities Require This Permit? The receipt, possession, use, transfer, ownership or acquisition of a particle accelerator requires licensing.
What Is The Purpose of This Permit? To protect the health and safety of the public, the occupational worker and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation.
Who Issues This Permit? Radiation Protection Section, Division of Environmental Health.
How Much Will This Permit Cost?
Annual Fee Facility: $1,500.

How Long Will It Take To Review My Application? Approximately two weeks from the receipt of a completed application package.
Where Do I Submit My Application? N.C. Radiation Protection Section, c/o Radioactive Material Branch Manager, 1645 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1645.
How Long Is My Permit or License or Certificate Valid? Five year renewal frequency with annual billing.
