Biodiversity/Wildlife Habitat Assessment

This dataset can be viewed online using the LandScope web-based mapping tool developed by NatureServe and the National Geographic Society.

Instructions to Access the Biodiversity/Wildlife Habitat Assessment Using the
LandScope Mapping Tool:

Go to http://www.landscope.org/map/. Enter "North Carolina" in the Find field.
In the upper left corner of the map, select "Conservation Priorities" from the "Select Theme" pull down menu.
Click the adjacent "Customize Theme" button and select "NC: CPT Biodiversity/Wildlife Habitat (NHP)." Be sure to remove checked selections from other themes.
Use Zoom bar on left to go your area of interest.
Click on the Identify button on upper right, and then on a point in your area of interest.
A “Feature Details” attribute table will show the maximum conservation value and ratings for the underlying values that contribute to that maximum value. (NOTE: The Important Bird Area attribute field will be added in the next update).
To learn more about the data and view the legend, click on "Map Key and Credit" (upper left corner). Click on "NC: CPT Biodiversity/Wildlife Habitat Assessment" to view data description.

Agricultural Assessment

North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has developed on online map viewer to display data from the Agricultural Assessment. This assessment is comprised of three evaluations: Government Policy, Agribusiness Infrastructure, and Soils. The three evaluations are summed to obtain an Overall Assessment Score that reflects the highest priorities for conservation of working farmlands statewide. Click here to access this map viewer.
