Support and Guidance
Conservation, Planning and Community Affairs provides staff to support the work of several appointed Commissions and Councils:
- The Coastal Habitat Protection Plan Steering Committee includes members of the Marine Fisheries, Environmental Management, Coastal Resources, and Wildlife Resources commissions.
- The Western North Carolina Public Lands Council oversees North Carolina parks, parkways and forests and promotes the protection, preservation and sustainability of Western North Carolina`s natural and economic resources.
- The Clean Water Management Trust Fund provides grants to fund acquisition of lands with outstanding natural or cultural heritage value and to support the inventory of natural areas and conservation planning activities. Funds are also allocated to the N.C. Natural Heritage Program for natural area inventories and for conservation and protection planning of natural areas.
