The Inventory Unit of the Natural Heritage Program conducts biological surveys to identify the most significant natural areas of our state, with the goal of finding and documenting locations of rare species and high quality natural communities.

Mission

To provide science and incentives to support conservation decisions, and foster partnerships that inform and result in the conservation of significant natural areas and the building of resilient communities in our state.

Overview

The Office of Conservation, Planning, and Community Affairs is an integral part of the state’s land and water conservation efforts, and has significant positive influence in communities through its partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies, industries, organizations, and private citizens.

CPCA is a non-regulatory agency that provides information and assistance to support effective conservation and resilient communities.
