At its November 2006 meeting, the CRC:
Adopted an amendment to NCAC 7B .0801, Public Hearing and Local Adoption Requirements, to include the public opportunity to provide written comments following local adoption of a land use plan. Adopted NCAC 7H .0312, Technical Standards for Beach Fill Projects, which outlines sediment criteria rules for beach nourishment projects. On the recommendation of the Coastal Resources Advisory Council, adopted a resolution supporting the Division of Marine Fisheries letter to the Environmental Management Commission regarding Phase II Stormwater Rules. On the recommendation of the Planning and Special Issues Subcommittee, the commission voted to certify a Land Use Plan for the Town of Kure Beach. On the recommendation of the Planning and Special Issues Subcommittee, the commission voted to certify a Land Use Plan for the Town of Newport. On the recommendation of the Planning and Special Issues Subcommittee, the commission voted to certify a Land Use Plan amendment for the Town of Nags Head. Denied a variance to Patricia M. Miller and Ronald and Margaret Kauffman of Carteret County, who sought relief from the commission’s “swimming pool exception” to the oceanfront setback rule in order to construct two swimming pools at a duplex in Emerald Isle. The commission’s rule exception allows for only one pool per lot.
