Coastal Resources Commission :: Actions from January Meeting


At its Jan. 2010 meeting, the CRC:

  • Granted a request from the Town of Ocean Isle Beach for a static vegetation line exception.

  • Certified a Land Use Plan for Onslow County.

  • Certified a Land Use Plan for Beaufort County.

  • Voted to extend the Commission’s 120-day time limit to make a final decision in Donahue v. DCM.

  • Adopted amendments to 15A NCAC 7H .0208 General and Specific Use Standards to make conforming changes to the CRC’s shoreline stabilization and docks & piers rules.

  • Adopted amendments to 15A NCAC 7H .0309  Use Standards  for Ocean Hazard Areas: Exceptions – Structure Limitations; Pier Houses; and Electrical Transmission Lines from Energy Producing Facilities to make the development limitations conform with changes to 7H.0306, and changes to the pier house section that allow construction and expansion of pier houses oceanward of the setback, and to allow electrical transmission lines oceanward of the development setback.

  • Adopted amendments to 15A NCAC 7H .1704 General Conditions  - Temporary Erosion Control Structures and 15A NCAC 7H .1705 Specific Conditions – Temporary Erosion Control Structures to conform with newly-effective changes to 7H.0308, Use Standards for Ocean Hazard Areas. The changes to the General Permit primarily address general and specific use standards related to temporary erosion control structures.

  • Approved for public hearing amendments to 15A NCAC 7H .0208 Use Standards, 7M .0400 Coastal Energy Policies and 7H .0106 General Definitions which would classify wind turbines as water dependent structures, and would incorporate into the CRC’s rules standards for siting and operation of wind energy facilities in State coastal waters.
