Coastal Management

Certified Land Use Plans

Locally adopted land use plans (LUPs) are forwarded to the North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission for state certification. Once a land-use plan is certified by the CRC, the Division of Coastal Management uses the plan in making CAMA permit decisions. Proposed projects and activities must be consistent with the policies of a local land-use plan, or DCM cannot permit a project to go forward.

Click on the county links to the left to find out more about certified land use plans for counties and municipalities.
