Governors' South Atlantic Alliance Releases Final Action Plan In January, the Governors’ South Atlantic Alliance released a final Action Plan that will guide efforts to address key environmental, economic and cultural issues facing the region’s coastal and ocean areas. The Action Plan focuses on four priority topic areas: healthy ecosystems, working waterfronts, clean coastal and ocean waters, and disaster-resilient communities. Each priority area contains specific goals, actions and objectives designed to protect and promote the natural, cultural and economic resources of each state and the region as a whole. Governors' South Atlantic Alliance is a voluntary partnership established in October 2009 and led by the governors of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida and supported by federal and state agencies, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders. The Action Plan and additional information, is available on the Governors' South Atlantic Alliance website at: http://www.southatlanticalliance.org/index.htm. |
