Buckridge Coastal Reserve Site Reopened to Visitors
RALEIGH – The Emily and Richardson Preyer Buckridge Coastal Reserve in Columbia has been reopened to visitors following an assessment of damage from Hurricane Irene.
Some areas of the reserve site had downed trees that required clearing by N.C. Division of Coastal Management and Wildlife Resources Commission staff, and are now available for visitor use.
The Buckridge Coastal Reserve is one of 10 components of the N.C. Division of Coastal Management’s Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve, which protects coastal lands, waters and marshes for research, education and compatible traditional uses.
