N.C. Coastal Resources Commission Science Panel to meet Aug. 22 in Morehead City

RALEIGH – The N.C. Coastal Resources Commission’s Science Panel on Coastal Hazards will meet Aug. 22 in Morehead City.

The panel, which provides scientific advice to the CRC, will meet from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the N.C. Division of Coastal Management Office, 400 Commerce Ave., Morehead City. The meeting is open to the public.

The group’s agenda includes:

  • A discussion of draft bylaws for the panel;

  • A discussion of the CAMA permitting process for terminal groins, and potential methods of monitoring these structures for adverse impacts;

  • The static vegetation line currently in place at Oak Island.

Created by the CRC in 1997, the 13-member science panel is composed of coastal engineers and geologists.
