Albemarle Sound – Pilot study of the National Monitoring Network for U.S. Coastal Waters and their TributariesThe United States Geological Survey is partnering with APNEP and other agencies to develop an integrated water quality monitoring network for Albemarle Sound. This network will help managers examine critical water-quality management issues and will also serve as a pilot study of the National Monitoring Network for U.S. Coastal Waters and their Tributaries. The goal of the National Monitoring Network is to provide information about the health of our oceans and coastal ecosystems and inland influences on coastal waters for improved resource management. The network is an integrated, multidisciplinary, and multi-organizational program using multiple sources of data and information to augment current monitoring programs.
